Cool Characteristics of Barndominium Plans
- The large garage/study area is the #1 feature of the barndo plan. Some plans also include RV parking (see our collection of homes with RV parking here). If you have multiple cars, or are just looking for plenty of warm storage, a standard barndominium may be the best choice for you. Interesting fact: the house plan with a large shop/garage even has its own name: shop plan (i.e. shop + house).
- Wide porches are another common feature of barndominium designs. The terrace serves as a counterpoint to offset the presence of a large garage, making the house appear more comfortable and welcoming, and more like a machine.
- Contemporary interior design can be seen in the barndo floor plan. Examples include: open floor plans with kitchen and walk-in closet areas, as well as main level apartments. Need a first home on a higher level? Don’t worry, you’ll find similar styles as you browse our collection.
- The loft is another design feature you will find in many loft floor plans. Attics are popular for a variety of reasons, depending on who lives in the space. If you’re a family with teenagers, the attic can serve as a playroom, play area, or homework area, so they can do it – live upstairs, next to the second bedroom. On the other hand, if you are an empty nester, you can use the attic as a home office.
